Artistic piece proposal for the LA 2028 Olympic Opening Ceremony at the LA Memorial Coliseum.
This proposal reenvisions the meaning of the Olympic rings and sets them in a context where each ring represents a different community within the state of California. As each community comes on stage, an Olympic ring gets revealed, reaching a cross cultural and artistic celebration by the reveal of the fifth ring, setting the beginning of the LA 2028 Olympic Games.
This piece is centered on Chicano and Mexican culture, from its beginnings in the Aztlan (the mecca of the Mexicas), all the way to modern times, celebrating political, social and artistic achievements and landmarks of the Chicano community in the state of California.
